Project scholarship by Schwarzweiß Fotolabor
Every year, the Schwarzweiß Fotolabor awards a project scholarship. The idea is to sharpen the tactile quality of film processing and enlarging, and through the sensitivity to handwork which it takes to work at the laboratory, to create artistic works that are based on the analogue processes.
The scholarship includes the use of the laboratory for a period of up to six weeks and materials in July and August. Afterwards, the realised project will be presented in the showrooms of the NAILS Projectroom and curated in cooperation with Art in the museum.
2021, this year’s jury, consisting of Meike Denker (Kunst & Denker Contemporary), Océane Gonnet (art mediator and founder of Art in the museum) and Paulina Seyfried (initiator of the INTER– network and cultural manager in the independent scene), chose Philip Kanwischer unanimously from a total of 54 international applications. Philip Kanwischer convinces with his conceptual and yet playful project concept. We are looking forward to an enriching project!
In winter 2021 / 2022, we will publish the next call for applications for the 2022 scholarship and are already looking forward to receiving many exciting project ideas! Some of the applications as well as Philip Kanwischer’s contribution can be viewed at nextmuseum.io, thank you very much for this cooperation!
